Why do men and women decide to have more than two children and therefore behave differently from the prevailing fertility ideal? Based on two waves of the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) from four European countries - West Germany, France, Bulgaria, and Hungary - the book dedicate the overarching question of the motives for the transition to the third child. The focus is on socio-cultural factors.
