Beiträge zur Bevölkerungswissenschaft 49. Opladen, Berlin, Toronto: Barbara Budrich

Who are the couples who approach reproductive medicine? How is fertility treatment embedded in couples' lives? How does the decision-making process work for the use of reproductive medicine within the relationship? The author addresses these questions.

A theoretical explanatory model is introduced which allows to analyse couples' reproductive behaviour in case of infertility from a determined socio-scientific perspective. This model forms the basis of empirical investigation. The analysis is based on data from a survey among couples in fertility treatment which was conducted specifically for this purpose.
