In which way will the relationships between relatives change in the future? In view of the demographic change – increasing life expectancy and declining birth rates – the author examines possible impacts of future changes on the common lifetime of generations. Last but not least, the results are relevant for the care sector. The potentials for support from relatives will probably decline in the future, but to a much lesser extent than previously assumed.
