International comparison is one of the chief potentials of the Generations and Gender Survey. In order to facilitate the analysis of the different national datasets, they were harmonized according to certain guidelines. The participating countries initially prepared their own data for this purpose. The final harmonization was then carried out by a central office. The BiB has documented the SPSS-based syntax for preparation of the German dataset for international harmonization. Panel Support

For panel support, the participants in the first wave of the Generations and Gender Survey were each sent information about the work and the initial results of the GGS at the end of 2005 and 2006. This information was sent in the form of a “GGP Journal” to the participants in the core sample in 2005 and to the participants of both samples in 2006.
