GGP-5D

Content and Objectives

The "Generations & Gender Programme Preparatory Phase Project" - "GGP-5D" for short - is a third-party funded project acquired by the international family demographic research network "Generations and Gender Programme (GGP)". In the background is the goal of developing the GGP from a cooperation of European research institutions into a "European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC)", i.e. into a permanently established, European-funded research infrastructure with its own legal status. An important step on this path was the inclusion of the GGP on the ESFRI Roadmap ("European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures") in 2021. The GGP-5D project now aims to prepare the final step towards ERIC by developing sufficiently stable and sustainable organisational structures for the GGP, strengthening the effectiveness of its working methods and optimising its scientific methodology. The five dimensions on which this is to be achieved are: (1) "Technical excellence", (2) "Scientific and socio-economic impact and engagement", (3) "Financial sustainability", (4) "Legal frameworks" and (5) "Positioning in the landscape of Research Infrastructures". The work to be done is organised in seven Work Packages. The BiB was given the lead for the dimension "Financial sustainability" and for the Work Package of the same name. The BiB will be actively involved in four other Work Packages ("Legal Frameworks", "Positioning", "Strategic Partnership", "Management and D-E-C Coordination"). Within the four-year project period, the BiB is responsible for submitting three reports.

Data and Methods

The work required for this is organized into seven Work Packages. The BiB has been assigned the lead role for the "Financial sustainability" dimension and for the Work Package of the same name. In four other Work Packages ("Legal Frameworks", "Positioning", "Strategic Partnership", "Management and D-E-C Coordination"), the BiB will be actively involved. Within the four-year project period, the BiB will be responsible for submitting three reports.
