Objectives
European comparative study of attitudes, experiences and preferences about intergenerational solidarity, elderly and population ageing.
Description of Work
- On the basis of the international PPAS standardised database, resulting from the national surveys a European comparative analysis will be made of:
- views/perceptions on elderly, assistance to older persons, living arrangements as old dependent person;
- preferences about policies with respect to age at retirement, (labour) activities of elderly and old age benefits;
- attitudes about population ageing. - The data of the international PPAS on individual attitudes, experiences and preferences with respect to intergenerational solidarity, elderly and ageing will be related to the evaluation of the policy measures concerning those issues.
- The international PPAS data on intergenerational solidarity, the elderly and ageing will be analyzed according to the socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the respondents and the values they entail: age and sex, household and family characteristics, education, activity and income, religion, urbanisation of residence, values in life.
- The results of the analysis on intergenerational solidarity, elderly and population ageing will also be studied in relation to the findings on the other major research issues studied in the project: gender roles, family formation, work and family life, children.
- The results of the international PPAS analysis on intergenerational solidarity, elderly and ageing will be related to the findings of the Delphi-, focus group-, and contextual parts of the project.
