FReDA –The German Family Demography Panel Study | 26.02.2025Call for open modules of the autumn survey 2026 launched

For the sixth wave of the ‘FReDA – The German Family Demography Panel Study’ survey in autumn 2026, individual questions and entire modules can now be submitted. Have your own research content included in FReDA! The deadline is 26 May 2025. The submitters will be informed about the final decision as to which proposals can be included in the FReDA survey in summer 2025.

What are open modules in FReDA?

FReDA's questionnaire includes so-called open modules. These offer the scientific community the opportunity to integrate their own questions or modules into the survey in the FReDA context. These are sections in the questionnaires whose contents are not designed by the FReDA managers.

Selection of suitable items

Calls for proposals for the open modules are regularly issued. The FReDA committees select suitable items from the submitted modules or individual questions in a multi-stage process. A total of three minutes of survey time is available, which can be filled by one module or by several shorter submissions from different applicants. Further information can be found in the call, which is also available in English.

What is the FReDA panel?

The FReDA panel is a self-administered panel survey (online and paper) of people aged 18 to 49 and their partners, which takes place every six months. The survey was fielded for the first time in spring 2021. The thematic focus is on family life and the population in Germany.
