The communications department at the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) has a new head: Esther Dopheide joined the institute on November 1, 2023. The experienced communicator is responsible for external and internal communication and will also be part of the BiB's management team.

"With Esther Dopheide, we have gained a competent expert in the field of communication for the BiB," says Prof. Dr. C. Katharina Spieß, Director of the BiB. "She will further strengthen the BiB's internal and external communication." Esther Dopheide studied history at the University of Giessen with a focus on "specialized journalism". After graduating with a Magister Artium, she worked as a press officer at Stiftung Lesen and then spent eight years as head of PR and Internal Communications at Christoffel-Blindenmission (CBM).

Esther Dopheide is the first person to be appointed Head of Communications at BiB. Together with her team, she is responsible for both the internal and external communication of the institute. In addition to digital media, this also includes numerous publication series, press relations and various formats for knowledge transfer and communication with the public. In her role, Esther Dopheide reports directly to BiB Director C. Katharina Spieß.
