The majority of survey respondents expressed their willingness to participate in future rounds of the survey. Thanks to the high share of cooperative participants more than 10,000 persons aged 20 to 70 are invited to take part in the second wave of the survey. One of this round’s innovations is that the respondents are contacted by e-mail allowing for a user-friendly access to the online questionnaire.

GERPS aims at gathering data on German emigrants and return migrants and their life situation. The study is a joint project of the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) and the University of Duisburg-Essen. First results will be published later this year.

Unique Panel Data

Thanks to its panel character, GERPS will provide unique longitudinal data that enable the analysis of the consequences of international migration for an individual’s life course.
