Michael Mühlichen and Ronny Westerman investigated regional trends in avoidable cancer mortality in Germany. In addition, Ronny Westerman shed light on the share of alcohol-related mortality in total mortality.

Together with Jonathan Zufferey (University of Geneva), Sebastian Klüsener analysed the impact of family legislation on family formation behaviour. In cooperation with Aiva Jasilioniene (Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock) and Victoria Yuodeshko (Research Institute of Labour, Minsk), he addressed in a second presentation birth level developments in Russia.

In a poster session, Sebastian Klüsener also outlined the development of age differences between mothers and fathers at childbirth, observed over several decades in 15 countries in Europe, North America and East Asia.

Nikola Sander presented the GERPS project of the BiB which investigates the characteristics of emigrants from Germany. In another presentation, she gave graphic impulses for the visual processing of data by using the example of migration flows.
