Call for Abstracts • 01.06.20161st European Meeting of the Biomarker Network

As a side meeting of the European Population Conference, the subject of “Biomarkers for Demographic Research” will be discussed. Deadline extended: Abstracts can be submitted now until 15 June 2016.

Following the successful series of NIA sponsored Biomarker Network meetings in advance of the annual meetings of the Population Association of America (PAA), the first European meeting of the Biomarker Network will be held as a satellite event directly before the opening ceremony of this year's European Population Conference on Wednesday, 31 August 2016, 8:30-16:00 at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany.

The goal is establishing a European Biomarker Network for promoting the scientific communication and the exploration of new research fields regarding biomarkers in the context of demographic and population health studies.

Special attention will be given to the following topics:

  1. biomarkers of environmental burden,
  2. genetic markers for longevity and disability,
  3. cardiovascular risk factors, metabolic syndrome, dementia and other chronic diseases,
  4. markers of epigenetic effects,
  5. micro biome and nutrition,
  6. new measurements and methods.

Submissions on other biomarkers will also be considered. In any case, however, a relation to demographic research has to be demonstrated.

Abstracts of papers are invited for oral presentation. The abstract should clarify the material to be presented: research question, data, methods, results and discussion.

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words, and should be sent to the address

Eurobiomarker@bib.bund.de

The deadline for submitting abstracts is June 15th, 2016. Successful candidates will be notified until June 30th 2016.

Please join us for the opportunity to listen to recent updates on research, share ideas and new findings with colleagues, and network with experts to advance biomarker discovery and development.

Best regards,

2016 European Biomarker Network Committee
